History + Philosophy
Seth is a longtime practitioner of yoga and a scholar of Indian religions, Sanskrit, and yoga traditions, and is the founder of Yogic Studies. He is currently a PhD Candidate in South Asian Religions at Harvard University, where he is writing his dissertation on the history, theory, and practice of medieval yoga in south India.
Seth has spent extensive time traveling and conducting field research in India, including at many of the sacred sites we will be visiting in Karnataka. He will be sharing this research and knowledge with you all on this trip!
Kory is the founder and director of Ashtanga Yoga Napa Valley (Napa, California) where she leads and teaches a Mysore program, now it its fourth year. She studies regularly with Ashtanga Yoga luminary Tim Miller (Encinitas, California), and has twice embarked on sojourns to Mysore, India studying for two months at a time with Sharath Jois. Most recently she has immersed in extensive āsana and movement studies under the tutelage of Mark Robberds.
Kory will be offering āsana practices that will enliven the senses, nourish the body, and awaken the mind—laying the inner groundwork for our days spent traveling and exploring the outer landscape of Karnataka.
Not included: roundtrip airfare to Bangalore, lunch, personal spending, driver tip, return travel from Goa.
* Yoga practice will consist of invigorating yet relaxing Āsana, functional movement, breath work, and meditation. Practices will be dependent on travel schedule and available facilities.
