Spoken Sanskrit Student Final Projects (2022)

Last week marked the conclusion of Yogic Studies' first-ever Spoken Sanskrit series, led by Dr. Varun Khanna of Swarthmore College. The series employed a hands-on online learning experience that allowed students to gather for twice-weekly speaking lessons, where they gained the ability to build their own Sanskrit words and phrases as not only consumers, but producers of Sanskrit language. By approaching the language in a completely new, yet organic and natural way, students gained novel understandings of declensions of nominals, conjugations of verbs, and syntax during the 12-week series.

These efforts culminated in a final group project that provided the opportunity for students to write and perform a short skit, entirely in Sanskrit! We hope you enjoy the videos as much as we did.

The Spoken Sanskrit Series will be hosted again live in 2023 - don't miss out on an awesome opportunity to join us for an immersive dive into the world of spoken Sanskrit, learning to communicate in this ancient language from scratch!
