Course Description

What is the relationship between Yoga and Ayurveda? Sometimes referred to as "sister" disciplines, historically how have the two been related in theory and practice? Ayurveda and Yoga are often considered deeply linked disciplines that together offer a holistic approach to both physical and spiritual health and wellbeing. A third discipline, Rasaśāstra (Indian alchemy and iatrochemistry) is less well-known, but historically forms a bridge between Yoga and Ayurveda and is an integral part of modern and global forms of Ayurveda.

This course examines the histories of all three disciplines. It will reveal their historical entanglements and trace the trajectories of their evolution as components of today's global healthcare and personal development industries.
